The Pentax Optio LS 1000 is compact, very light digital camera, and sports some features that are found only in models that are far more expensive. Despite the plastic feel and the not overly sleek look, the camera is a high performer that offers 14 effective megapixels, high quality image engine, and 4x optical zoom. The taken photos could be easily enlarged and even printed as posters, while the 3.0’’ LCD monitor delivers excellent image preview and allows the user to access the different menu options easily. The wide-angle lens makes the camera very versatile and the photographers can easily snap landscape, close-range, or group photos. The Auto picture mode takes the guessing out of photography and allows anyone to take excellent photos, regardless of their experience, and since the feature comes with 15 different modes, all commonly encountered shooting conditions are covered. The available movie mode has Shake reduction mode and records videos with maximum 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, which movies would look sharp even on a large HDTV screen. In addition, for all those special moments, the Optio LS 1000 has Face Detection AF & AE function, which ensures perfect pictures of family and friends.
