[24/10/2010] Digital Cameras for Kids
If you have younger children that are taking a great interest in your digital camera, but you are afraid to give it to them, as it might not last more than a few minutes in their hands, then consider buying a digital camera for kids. Quite a few manufacturers make them and these cameras are typically tougher, with large control buttons, brightly colored, much easier to use, and simple. They are normally limited to the number of pictures that they can take and the quality of the photos might not be the best one out there, but they are also typically very well priced. This lets you buy your kid their first digital camera without having to spend a fortune and without having to worry about throwing it in the bin in the worst-case scenario.
Once such camera is the Fisher Price Kid-Tough, which is a fully functional, extremely tough digital camera that can store up to 50 pictures on its internal memory. With large buttons and controls that do not require any reading or learning, every kid that is older than three years of age can use it to take their first pictures. The camera also comes with free software and is USB compatible, which allows the photos to be easily transferred to a computer or Mac. The maximum size of the photos is 640 x 480, which allows them to be turned into a quality 4’’ by 6’’ prints.
Another great digital camera for kids is the Vtech Kidizoom Plus, which has a 1.8’’ LCD screen, 16MB internal memory that can store approximately 200 photos, and an expansion slot for SD memory cards. The tough body of the camera is similar to the one in other kids’ camera models and it comes with two large handles on the sides, big control buttons, and is brightly colored as well. As a bonus, three preschool games are added as well.
